Both were impact players on relatively weak teams during the 1990s: Ginsburg for the depleted liberal bloc on the righty-leaning Rehnquist Court, and Sosa for the Chicago Cubs.  Off the field, both have contributed to worthy causes.  While a law professor at Rutgers, Ginsburg battled for maternity leave rights for schoolteachers in New Jersey, and was the first director of the ACLU's Women's Rights Project.  Leveraging his baseball stardom, Sosa created the Sammy Sosa Foundation in 1998 to raise funds to support health care and other initiatives for underprivileged children in Chicago and his home of the Dominican Republic.</answer>
